Bronze finish for our Cole
ABERGAVENNY-BASED businessman Damian Cole finished third overall and second in his class at last Sunday's RDP Welsh Rally.
Cole is managing director of the Get Connected store in Abergavenny. Together with co-driver Paul Morris, reading the pace notes, he was totally committed and well on the pace all day, setting consistent stage times in his Hyundai Accent WRC.
The rally was won outright by Mel Evans and Sean Mullally in a Subaru Impreza S12 WRC. John Dalton/Gwynfor Jones in a Darian T90 GTR were second.
Newport resident Den Golding shone in the Historic Category Three class when he co-drove Mark Solloway in a Ford Escort RS to overall victory. In the Historic category One and Two, David Stokes and Guy Weaver from the Forest of Dean won in their Ford Escort RS 1600.
Sponsored for the second year in succession by RDP Commercial Lawyers, the rally was organised by The South Wales Automobile Club, Foresters Car Club and Epynt Motor Club. The expertise of these motor clubs put together the 13 stage special tarmac event run under near-perfect conditions on The Epynt Military Ranges, near Sennybridge.
