 |
| KILLED: Jamie Linton, 22 |
A 22-YEAR-OLD man was killed when a car containing six young people plunged into a drainage ditch near Magor this weekend
Jamie Linton, from Newport, was one of six people in a Vauxhall Corsa, which crashed on a dirt track near the sea wall at Redwick sometime between 6pm and 7pm on Friday.
The car fell upside-down into the drainage ditch, or reen, which runs along the road's edge.
Mr Linton was trapped in the car and although his friends managed to pull him out, he died at the scene.
The other five teens aged between 16 and 19 - including some from Magor aand Undy - suffered minor injuries.
Police are treating the investigation as "very serious" and say it could be either a case of manslaughter or death by dangerous driving.
Witnesses should contact the Collision Investigation Unit on 01633 643091 or 01633 838111.

My thoughts go out to all of Jamie's family and friends. Everyone who knew Jamie (or Owl) knew what a special, caring person he was. He was the first person to ask how you were; the first person to make you laugh, he was a diamond – one of a kind. I'll always remember the times I spent with him... RIP Jamie, words cannot describe how much you will be missed...xx
